Guide to Controls (BG 83/2023) written by John Marrow and published by BSRIA in June 2023, defines an analogue input (AI) as: ‘An input to a controller which monitors a variable quantity such as voltage.’
It defines an analogue output (AO) as: ‘A voltage or current output from a controller which provides a variable signal, for example to set the position of a motorised valve.’
